This new Professional and Generic Skills programme is a collaborative venture provided by Health Education England - working across the South West, and delivered jointly by Plymouth University Schools of Medicine and Dentistry (PU PSMD) and the University of Bristol Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.
HEALTH EDUCATION ENGLAND - working across the South West
Health Education England - working across the South West is funding 120 places for the year 2017-18 for Doctors in Training (ST3+) and a small number of places for SAS Doctors (Specialty Doctor, Staff Grade and Associate Specialists) in more senior roles in the Peninsula region. The programme is designed to provide a unique combination of practice skills, knowledge and thinking to develop your career path as a clinical leader within an evolving NHS.
You will need to commit seven days between September 2017 and September 2018 to attend six CPD modules - choosing your modules from any of the six locations across the south west: Truro, Plymouth, Exeter, Taunton, Bristol and Cheltenham/ Gloucester.
Key themes will include:
Patient safety, quality systems and your personal responsibilities
Communications, partnership and team-working
Maintaining trust, medical ethics, and medicine and the law
NHS structures and funding
Developing management and leadership skills for the future
The programme is stand-alone and will provide Royal College of Physicians CPD credits. It also provides the opportunity for further postgraduate progression in either clinical education at Bristol University or management and leadership at Plymouth University.
