Overview:

This course focuses on developing intercultural competence and communication skills, with the express aim to facilitate better interactions with IMGs in all settings. We will do this by learning about different intercultural theories and ideas, looking at how these apply to us personally and how we engage with the world around us, before using this same information to consider how this might apply to those we work with. We’ll look at examples of how intercultural differences might present in the workplace and how we can better read and understand different behaviours so that we can better support and manage IMGs. We’ll also touch on considerations for clearer communication when dealing with those who have other first languages and how we can deliver information and feedback clearly while in a culturally sensitive manner.
